We strive to provide the most reliable network by utilizing the best equipment consisting of Dell, Intel, Cisco, Juniper, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The network is fully meshed and redundant with 10 tier one backbone providers which includes AboveNet, AT&T, Broadwing, Global Crossing, Level3, nLayer, Sprint, Time Warner, UUNET, and Verio. Should any connection fail, the other connections automatically takes over.

Our network is consistently monitored 24x7 by both an in-house staff and a third party monitoring company. Server availability is checked every few minutes from various locations around the country. If a problem occurs, we are alerted immediately and our technicians will be addressing the problem before you’ll ever notice. We don’t wait for you to report a problem, we’ll already know of the problem.

Our Servers

We use the latest state of the art technology to power our hosting presence. We believe that the quality of our servers directly affects our service - we don't believe you can run servers in a hot, overcrowded server room and expect the 100% uptime we do.

Each Adept Hosting Server is powerful enough to cope with the most demanding websites. Powered by Dual Intel® Xeon™ 3.0GHz processors with 2GB DDR2 RAM, our web servers are suitable for every website, from simple homepages to processor intensive applications such as serving databases or complex websites. Locations

Our UK servers are all located in carrier-neutral data centres in Docklands, London. We use exclusively Redbus data centres, due to their class-leading SLA, security and power facilities. Redbus also has the great advantage of being carrier-neutral, allowing us to connect to several providers for redundancy.

For redundancy, we have other servers located in the USA, including our secondary nameserver. The South Pointe datacenter located in northern Virginia will house Peer 1 Network colocation customers and ServerBeach dedicated servers. This facility has been built out to meet Peer 1 Network's high standards of redundancy and security. Fed by dual OC-48 uplinks to the Peer 1 network with fully redundant network and power systems, this datacenter is designed to meet the needs of ServerBeach's phenomenal growth. The South Pointe datacenter also carries a 99.99% network uptime guarantee, versus the standard 99.9% available in other datacenters.

Data Centre and Network

We guarantee 99% uptime and will provide you credit for any unannounced downtime experienced due to the Adept Hosting network. Cisco Powered Network

Every Adept Hosting server is connected to a 100% Cisco Powered Network. Using enterprise-class Cisco networking gear, all routers, layer-2 switches, and layer-3 switches are tested in labs prior to deployment to ensure stability and interoperability.

Redundant High Bandwidth Connectivity

Using multiple Tier 1 Service Providers, Adept Hosting leads the discount dedicated hosting industry with our 99.9% network uptime guarantee, ensuring the highest degree of security against network downtime and the fastest possible data transfers.

Our network is fully switched, with multiple redundant routers, and multiple connections to different ISPs, allowing us to provide absolute availability of the network with no down time.

The network is designed around a high-speed switched architecture. Each server is plugged into at least a 100mbit, fully-switched port on an edge switch. Each edge switch is then in turn plugged into two separate aggregation switches at 1gbit, with failover redundancy allowing either 1gbit link to fail.

Our network design is fully redundant and high performance, with low latency and high throughput. Once traffic has reached our core switches it is routed by our multiple, redundant routers on to the internet over a number of different connections.

Bandwidth Utilization

It is a common misconception that the amounts of bandwidth (size of the pipes that carry the data) differentiate web hosting companies. In reality it is not only the size of the pipes that matters, it is the utilization levels. The utilization of our Internet connections is vital to a network's ability to transfer data without packet loss or latency. Adept Hosting aims to keep all connection usage below 50% to avoid any connectivity problems.

Dynamic Routing

We are among the very few UK hosts that can boast they maintain their own AS number and run BGP4. This means we are not tied down to one particular provider, and can swap between providers, distribute traffic between them, and peer for faster network performance.

AdeptHosting.co.uk runs the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP4) for best case routing. The BGP4 protocol is a standard that allows for the routing of packets of information sent out from our network. Each packet of information is evaluated and sent over the best route possible. Because of our redundant network architecture, packets may be sent via alternative routes even if they are being delivered to the same end user. Should one of our providers fail, packets leaving our network are automatically redirected through another route via a different provider.

Network Security

The Adept Hosting network is a fully switched network. Traffic destined for a website hosted on a server is sent only through switching equipment necessary to deliver the information to that server. This minimizes the risk of someone sniffing or capturing traffic being sent across the network. Furthermore, Adept Hosting vigorously prosecutes persons who generate malicious attacks on our internal network.

Carrier Class

Our facility is a carrier-neutral site and is built completely on computer-grade raised flooring; it is built for dedicated server hosting with redundant fibre entry points.

Regulated Climate Control

The data center's HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) system is N+1 redundant. To ensure optimum performance, all data floors are maintained at a constant 21°C ± 2°C and relative humidity is kept at 50% ± 10% with full particle filtering and humidity control. Both are continually monitored via the building management system.

Power Systems

Adept Hosting is not reliant upon the local power grid to guarantee maximum uptime. Our on-site, auto-switched power generator and centralized UPS systems provide power conditioning and ensure uninterrupted data center operation. Additionally, the generator is regularly tested to ensure that it will continue to function in the event of an emergency.

We have a scalable and sustainable power supply. A minimum of 1Kw per square metre secure power is available, with power isolated between customer and maintained indefinitely, plus on-site generation which can deal with both customer and plant load whilst recharging the UPS. All the facilities are built to at least an N+1 standard; put simply, this means that if two generators are required to provide non-stop power, then there’ll be three installed. So rather than guaranteeing 99.99% availability, the guarantee is 100%.

Datacenter Security

The data center is physically isolated from everyone but level three technicians. Public access is strictly forbidden. Access to the floor the datacenter resides on is restricted and completely locked down.

All data centres feature totally comprehensive 24/7 security. This includes the protection of security barriers, 24x7x365 monitoring by on-site personnel to include visual verification of all persons entering the building, CCTV video camera surveillance and a security breach alarm provides the control room with information. All persons entering the data floor have proximity tags to gain access which are logged and verified.
